IMG_0366.JPG - Let's see how many more projects I can get going at the same time. This is a new one: an electric bass with a built-in amplifier. I'm not sure how this is going to work out. The first time I did something like this, the feed back would not let you play very loud. My goal: a battery powered bass guitar, about the size of a dreadnaught. I'll call this project: Unplugged Bass Project. Here, the core of the instrument is being built from maple. It's the electric portion, using magnetic pickup. Scale length is 30". The body will be attached to this "core", and it will contain a battery powered amp and batteries. The end game: an instrument that can provide a decent bottom end to an acoustic band. It needs to be loud enough to keep up with a banjo or violin, but it needs to be battery/DC operated for about 2 hours so one does not need to be near an amp or a plug. Think: farmers' market, subway station, etc...
